Services - Heating and Air Conditioning
Healthy Air has a different
approach to the air conditioning (or HVAC) business than your
typical air conditioning contractor. We believe that the central
HVAC system should improve a home's indoor living environment,
not just heat and cool it.
Air purifiers, air conditioners, or furnaces
are components of a home's central HVAC system, just like the
engine is a component of a car. An HVAC system is custom designed
for each home, so when considering the purchase of an air purifier,
air conditioner
and/or furnace, it is important to think of them as components
of a system.
In order to get the benefit from the units
that the manufacturer intended, it is critical that you choose
the right contractor.
Your choice of HVAC equipment is very important—but your
choice of contractors is critical.
My 30 years of experience in the HVAC industry
has taught me that there is at least one significant flaw or
problem to be
found in 90% of the existing HVAC systems in homes. Many times
simple tasks such as cleaning cooling coils or changing fiberglass
plenums to metal plenums can result in a much cleaner, healthier
environment without having to spend a lot of money.
When evaluating a home's indoor environment,
we look at several things. Ultimately, the reliability, efficiency,
comfort and health of an indoor environment will depend upon
the following items:
Design—An improperly
designed system can result in loss of efficiency, lack of humidity
control, shortened life
expectancy of the equipment, and uneven heating and cooling throughout
the home. It can even become a breeding ground for mold, bacteria
and viruses that contaminate the living environment.
Quality—A lack of workmanship
or a low quality product can result in an increased cost of operation.
This can also lead
to infiltration of the system, creating breeding
conditions for mold, bacteria, dust mites and viruses.
Air Flow—Comfort will
depend on the correct number, size and location of supply and
return air ducts and
the proper size of equipment. Lack of return air will deccrease
the efficiency and shorten equipment life. During extreme conditions,
the equipment will freeze over and cause the air conditioner
to quit functioning altogether.
Efficiency—The overall
efficiency of your system will depend on the efficiency of the
equipment, whether or not
the equipment is properly sized, the level of return air supply
and how well the duct system is sealed and insulated.
Clean Air—For clean air, there are many issues
to consider, such as dirty and leaky ducts, relative humidity,
fresh air exchanges and the type of air puriciation equipment
that is utilized. The HVAC system, however, still plays a crucial
role in maintaining a healthy breathing environment.
Energy Analysis
To ensure you are getting the right heating
and cooling system for your home, HealthyAir will provide
an energy analysis as a part of our overall service.
During
the Energy Analysis your HealthyAir consultant will investigate
each area in your home to determine the energy required to meet
your comfort level needs. Items that will impact your heating
and cooling system requirements range from the number of total
square feet of living area, the geographical footprint of your
home, the number and square footage of exterior doors and windows,
just to mention a few.
Based on your home's unique energy requirements
and your unique indoor comfort level requirements, HealthyAir can
offer you a unique solution for your home.
